Vernon Stake Celebrates 50 Years!

Updated: 3 days ago

This last week our Vernon Stake members gathered to celebrate a very special milestone—our 50th birthday! We came together at the stake centre for a day filled with sunshine, laughter, and wonderful memories.

While the families there shared good food and great company, the children enjoyed bouncy castles and were thrilled with the foam fun, We also had our cooks on the grill keeping everyone smiling with delicious ham and cheese grilled sandwiches! A big thank you to all of those who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the day a success, especially our present Stake Presidency, President Olsen, President England and President Poulin!

A highlight of the day was welcoming Sister Shirley Burnham, one of our oldest members. Her late husband Ron, was the very first Vernon Stake President, and it was touching to see her with us as we reflected on how far our stake has come over the years.

As we gathered for a large group photo, surrounded by friends, family, and leaders, we couldn’t help but feel grateful—for the gospel, for our stake community, and for the blessings that come from building the kingdom together. Doctrine and Covenants 87:8 tells us: "Stand ye in holy places and be not moved!" For 50 years the Vernon Stake has been a holy gathering place! What a blessing it has been to be a part of it.

Thank you to everyone who came, served, and celebrated. It was such a pleasure to be there! Please enjoy some of the photos we captured that day...
