Christmas in our Stake- Smiths
A Christmas tradition we have started is one of distributing care packages to homeless people on Christmas Eve. It is one of my favourite things to do at Christmas time. I’m sure I get more from it than we give but to watch the surprise and gratitude of a group of homeless people standing around a Mall entrance on Christmas Eve, long after the doors have closed and no one else is around , it is a wonderful feeling. I wish I could do more but at least it brings some joy and light to them knowing that some one cares and remembered them. They are very grateful and express their gratitude.
Another Christmas tradition in our family is for me to sing my Christmas song Teach the Children, which depicts the setting of Santa Clause teaching about the symbols of Christmas and their meaning. It is sad but Santa wants us to understand the real meaning of Christmas and the real meaning of the symbols we traditionally use, but few understand.
